ShadowBlog

I started this blog primarily to keep track of interesting media I find all across the interwebs. Then I realized that other people might be interested, as well. Occasionally I provide interesting insight and commentary on topics that interest me.

Turns of phrase.

Sometimes, at work, doing my professional day job, I send out emails just like this:

All good except that you need to [fix some stuff].

So I guess it’s not ‘all’ good, truly. Which makes me wonder why I even used that turn of phrase. Now I’m questioning my life’s choices and this, for some reason, makes me want to go and read some Ayn Rand. I’ve never read anything by her, even though it’s come highly recommend on several occasions from different sources. Anything suggested by another person as, “You must read this, it changed my life,” just makes me think about how disappointed I was in Catcher in the Rye when all I got out of it is that the protagonist is a spoiled trust fund yuppie kid who thinks it’s cool to slum with the underprivileged when it suits him and that such people who think that book is transformative have never had to grow up in a trailer park or live on welfare or struggle to accomplish something in their lives and would kill to have the opportunities that Holden Caulfield pissed away. None of this is really relevant to the matter at hand so I guess I am as good as or even a better author than Mr. J.D. Salinger.

Well, not just like that. There I go, again!
